General information - overview
At the very beginning of their doctoral activities students follow the course ‘Introduction to the Earth System Science and Modelling’ which is mandatory to all doctoral students. During the 1st and 2nd semester of their work, students select courses among offered fundamental courses, during the 2nd and later semester, they take specialized courses. For most courses 2 credit points are assigned (for some exceptions only 1 credit point will be rewarded).
The academic training is multidisciplinary within the broad field of Earth system research. The school offers courses among the courses offered by the University of Hamburg. Students are required to earn a minimum of 12 credit points throughout their 3 years doctoral study. Courses of the IMPRS-ESM are taught in English.
