
Application:
For application, a short proposal should be addressed to the IMPRS-ESM (Guest and Exchange Program). This proposal should present (1) the motivation for the visit and a research plan. It should place the research in the larger context of the respective scientific question, highlight the objective and goals of the visit, and provide details on the study the visitor will perform with scientists from the host institute. Other requested components are (2) a tentative budget of the expected costs for travel and living expenses, (3) a time schedule and mile-stones, as well as (4) possible deliverables like e.g. joint future research papers, (5) a brief introduction of the host institute and the hosting research group, emphasizing the research question/ interest in common with the candidate. (6) An invitation from the host institute accompanies the proposal, including an explicit commitment of a senior scientist to supervise the anticipated research work and a statement of availability of working space, computing facilities, accommodation etc. upon arrival of the candidate. (7) A list of the names, positions and contact information of the collaborating scientists, including their main research interests completes the application for financial support.
Financial Aspects:
The Guest and Exchange Program covers for the basic cost of living in the city of the host institute in Germany or abroad. We award stipends following the regulations of the Max Planck Society for the Advancements of Sciences (MPG). The Guest and Exchange Program also covers the travel costs (‘best price’ ticket only) between home and host institute. Deliverable:
Participants (foreign guests as well as IMPRS-ESM doctoral students) are asked to submit a final report to the IMPRS-ESM Guest and Exchange Program after the visit.
