Conditions

The doctoral program is open to candidates with an university education in geophysical sciences (incl. meteorology and oceanography), economics, physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science or political science. Students who apply to the School must have the academic qualifications equivalent to the German 'Diplom', as required by the enrolling universities in Hamburg, Kassel, or Jena. The candidates are expected to be fluent in English, which is the working language of the IMPRS-ESM. Doctoral students with interest in the IMPRS-ESM may apply to join, on condition that they are associated with a research project of one of the collaborating institutions. Together with their supervisor, these doctoral students may apply at any time, as long as the proposed doctoral topic fits into the general framework of the School. For application, please contact the coordinator of the IMPRS-ESM.
