Overview

The curriculum for the doctoral students consists of a series of courses, which are offered at irregular frequency. The Executive Committee of the Research School discusses the curriculum, adding and modifying courses when found advantageous or important for the training of the doctoral students. Students may request the arrangement of specific courses from the Executive Committee.

Content:

This course introduces the basic idea behind the art of testing
statistical hypotheses. After an introduction to the general formalism
and terminology, a few examples that illustrate the basic idea will be
presented.

Comments:

Each of the course will be accompanied by an exercise dealing with scientific questions concerning the IPCC integrations. The data required in the exercises will be extracted from an ensemble of IPCC integrations beforehand. Possible methods to be used to answer the questions will be discussed and applied by the students.
