Once a year the doctoral students of the IMPRS-ESM, their supervisors and lecturers, as well as the sponsors of the IMPRS-ESM meet for scientific presentations and discussions away from the regular work environment. Retreat schedules are designed to foster communication and encourage the exchange of scientific information. Discussions will build bridges from the mutli-disciplinary education of the students to interdisciplinary approaches in Earth System modelling. They will foster communication between the students working at different locations. The presentations are regarded as mentoring activities for the students.
